Summary

No cookies, ads, or third-party scripts are used. There is no third-party analytics. Our server counts multiplayer activity, opened puzzles and game links, and selections of the Google Play link (see On our server below).

In your browser

This browser stores:

  • Your 10 most recent unfinished puzzles and their progress.
  • Your theme, sound setting, and multiplayer nickname.
  • Your 5 most recent multiplayer games: the game code, the picture, the number of pieces and the progress. Each game is removed after 30 days.
  • If you sign in: your account email and a random sign-in token.
  • A random ID of this browser. It is sent only when you select a Google Play link, open a puzzle or open a multiplayer game link (see Link counts below).
  • A random player ID for multiplayer games and completion counts.
  • Your wishlist of puzzle packs and a record of completed puzzles.
  • Your acknowledgment of the current terms when you create a custom puzzle.
  • Photos you add to My photos. They stay in this browser and are not uploaded.

Clear site data to delete these records. Shift+D in the player deletes solo progress only, not photos or multiplayer games.

On our server

  • Multiplayer games: the board, the nicknames and random player IDs. A game is deleted after 30 days without activity. A game of a custom puzzle also keeps the picture address, the credit line, the credit link and the mystery puzzle setting.
  • Completion counts: one number for each puzzle.
  • Multiplayer statistics: for each game, the picture, the shape, the number of pieces, where the game was made (this site, the Tapstar Jigsaw Puzzles app or an official open game), the highest and total number of players and the completion time. For each player, the first 16 characters of a SHA-256 hash of the random player ID, the platform (this site or the app) and the dates (UTC) when the player joined a game or placed pieces. These statistics do not include IP addresses, nicknames or cookies. We use them only to count multiplayer activity.
  • Custom puzzles: our server fetches the image URL and caches the image in memory for up to an hour. Images are not saved to disk.
  • To prevent double counts and abuse, the game service temporarily tracks request IDs and IP addresses in memory. Request records expire within about 20 minutes of inactivity; connection records remain while you are connected. These rate-limit records are not written to disk.
  • Accounts: your email address if you sign in, and your Email updates choice. Without sign-in, the Tapstar Jigsaw Puzzles app uses a guest account without an email address for each device. A guest account is deleted after about 400 days without use. Sign-in codes are stored only as a hash and expire after 30 minutes. Sign-in tokens are stored only as a hash and expire after 1 year without use.
  • Sync (on this site, signed in only; in the Tapstar Jigsaw Puzzles app, also with a guest account): your unfinished puzzles from this site, except My photos, and the list of puzzles you completed, with the puzzles you completed in a multiplayer game. In the Tapstar Jigsaw Puzzles app, also a backup of your app progress.
  • Rewards (Tapstar Jigsaw Puzzles app accounts): rewards for the app, such as coins for players who come back to multiplayer games, and the time and app device ID when you claim them.
  • App downloads: when you select a Google Play link, we record the random ID of this browser, the link location and the time. When the Tapstar Jigsaw Puzzles app starts for the first time, it sends the install referrer of Google Play, which contains that ID if you installed from our link. We keep these records for 400 days to count installs from this site.
  • Reports: when you report a player or a picture in the Tapstar Jigsaw Puzzles app, we keep the game code, the reason, the time, the nickname or the picture address and title, and the first 16 characters of a SHA-256 hash of the random player IDs of you and of the reported player. We use reports only to review content and to ban players or remove pictures that break the Terms. Other players in a game get a public player ID that is made from your random player ID. The app uses it to block players.
  • Link counts: when you open a puzzle or a multiplayer game link on this site, or open the join page in the Tapstar Jigsaw Puzzles app, we record the random ID of this browser or app, the type of page and the time. We keep these records for 400 days.

Emails

We send sign-in codes from service@hongmoe.com through our email provider. If you turn on Email updates on the Account page or in the Tapstar Jigsaw Puzzles app, we also send news about new puzzles and multiplayer events. Each of these emails has an unsubscribe link. Turn off Email updates or select the link to stop them. We do not use your email address for other purposes.

Delete your account

Sign in on the Account page or in the Tapstar Jigsaw Puzzles app, then select Delete account. We delete your email address, sessions, synced progress, completed list and rewards immediately. Progress stored in your browser or on your device stays there.

Service logs

Our hosting servers may record request details such as your IP address, request time, and requested URL for troubleshooting and service protection. Avoid putting private information in image URLs or puzzle credit lines.

Changes

We may update this privacy policy. The date at the top shows the last change. Significant changes will be posted on this page and in our site news.
